Motivational Programs

PreSchool Promotion and Kindergarten Graduation:  These important milestones in our students' lives are given special recognition at the end of the year.

Annual Awards Ceremony:  Grades 1-11 are honored at the end of the year.  Special awards will be given to those who qualify (perfect attendance, Honor Rolls, Most Inspirational, Principal's Award, etc.)  Our 8th graders are given special recognition.

Graduation:  Seniors are honored and given opportunity to present individual slide shows.  A reception is held following the ceremony.

Community Outreach

Operation Christmas Child:  Our 6th grade students purchase the 'shoeboxes' and are responsible for passing them out, collecting them, and delivering them to the drop-off station.  This year they delivered over 100 shoeboxes.

Local Sharing Tree:  Our 1st & 2nd graders donate monies and shop at our local stores for names taken off the local Sharing Tree.  The gifts are wrapped and delivered to DSHS.

Thanksgiving Community Outreach:  Our Juniors and Seniors are responsible for collecting money and food donations from our school families, local businesses, and churches.  They also sit hours at our local grocery stores collecting donations and names of families in need of a Thanksgiving dinner.  Our students shop for any additional food and turkeys needed and then sort and pack the boxes.   Our students carry out the boxes when the families arrive on 'pick up' day.  This year they handed out 105 boxes!

International Missions Outreach

Since 1999 our 11th and 12th grade High School students have taken a trip every other year through our Intercultural Studies Class to a second or third world country.  These trips are educational, with an emphasis on missions.  Students are responsible for raising their own funds to cover plane fare, room, and board.  Our students return from these trips with a first-hand understanding of the sacrifices our missionaries make to serve and a unique appreciation of the blessings they enjoy in our country.

Music Programs

Band: We offer traditional band to grades 4th - 8th during school hours twice a week.  High School band is offered after school twice a week.  Our band students perform in our school programs as well as 'band only' concerts.

Worship Band: Students in grades 7-12 meet twice a week after school to practice contemporary worship music. They have the opportunity to learn how to run sound, media, keys, guitar, drums and more.

Christmas Program: Grades PreSchool 3yrs. - 4th grade participate in our annual, traditional Christmas program.

Patriotic Program: In March Kindergarten - 6th grade students present our annual patriotic program honoring our servicemen and women and their families.
